The jobs and moon plantings stay the same. Update the Moon calendar dates to reflect the current year.
Jobs to do for MAY
Compost – keep compost piles damp and turned often
Compost – top up compost on asparagus and bulbs and on newly prepared beds to avoid them drying out
Fertilize – prepare citrus beds by adding a handful of dolomite and micronutrients then mix together 5 litres water with 1 teaspoon molasses, 1 teaspoon seaweed concentrate, 1 cup worm castings and stir well then add to planting beds too
Fertilize – feed tomatoes with magnesium (Epsom salts) 1 tablespoon Epsom salts to 9 litres of water
Fertilize – apply fertilizer tea to cabbage, leek, lettuce and silverbeet when necessary and ½ strength fortnightly to spinach.
Fertilize – bulbs
Harvest – crops for storage in 3rd quarter
Plant – plant asparagus now
Plant – plant rhubarb now
Plant – plant rosellas now
Plant – fruit trees, citrus, custard apple, loquat, dragon fruit, olive, and guava in mounds of compost enriched soil and keep moist to help settle
Plant – plant broccoli seedlings (March being the worst caterpillar month)
Prune – prune dead wood from trees and shrubs
Soil – hoe and cultivate to loosen soil crust
