It is with a heavy heart that we advise the passing of Susan Anderson on 31 August 2021 after a sudden and short illness.

Sue was a much loved and long running member of our Permaculture Noosa group and was the leader at the Cooroy Community Permaculture Gardens, which she loved.

Sue WAS the Cooroy Community Permaculture Gardens. Her dedication to the gardens gave her an outlet to educate, share and encourage anyone who was interested in learning more, and more importantly gave her an outlet to be her! She was an amazing light of inspiration, wisdom and joy and we will miss her greatly.

Here are just some of the beautiful sentiments shared at her tribute on the Sept Club Night.

Jo Scanlan (Acting President) – I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to get to know Sue over the past year. She welcomed me into her home (and garden!) and shared so much.  Sue was so generous with her time and knowledge. One of the things I admired about Sue was her humility. A few times I commented that she knew so much, and her reply was always “You know what, I just googled it”. Cooking, growing, sewing she did it all. And I admire her a lot and I will miss her.

Sandra Guy (Tribute Organisor and Friend) – When I think of Sue she was always planting seeds…planting seeds of kindness and generosity. I remember especially her generosity in sharing her knowledge at every opportunity, and her kindness to everyone she met, especially to people who just happened to wander into the garden…nothing was ever too much trouble. It was just so good to be with Sue in the garden, as she’d get so much joy and delight when the seeds and plants grew. It made her so happy being there. Thank you Sue,  for loving in life what truly matters..the simple things!

Maria (Seed Savers Coordinator) – After I asked Sue’s advice on a seed savers matter, Susan then turned the conversation around to talk about me. This is an example of how caring she always was and thought of others even when she herself was in pain.

Katie and Norma (CCPG Compost) – Sue’s energy, vibrant self-expression & sense of humour, bubbling enthusiasm, beautiful big smile, contagious laugh & passion for life is entirely impossible to not pick up on. Spending time with Sue, you felt heard, loved, inspired, enthused & left feeling like life is the most precious, exciting experience and it’s what we make it!

Lauren, Teagan, and Liz (Noosa Seed Library) – The ladies acknowledged the important contribution Sue made to the creation of the Seed Library. Sue’s enthusiasm and knowledge will be dearly missed.

Latha Matters (Former President) – Sue was always modest about her knowledge related to all things growing, but she was always willing to share what she knew. She gave me so much wisdom and advice on many aspects of running Permaculture Noosa, including marketing and fundraising. She was a very talented seamstress, and in fact made all the black aprons that our volunteers wear at events. She was a fabulous cook, and she taught me how to make sour dough bread. Everything she took on she did with incredible energy, enthusiasm and generosity. She loved to laugh! And I’ll always remember her patience and kindness when she had her grandsons help her plant seedlings at the gardens.

If you have anything you’d like to contribute about Sue, a paragraph, a verse, a photo, then please send it to [email protected] and we will add it here for all to read.
