Our Guest Speaker for the September 2019 Club Night will be Heidi Merika. Heidi’s topic will be ‘Leave the Weeds! Wild herbs in your garden. ‘

Heidi has been teaching workshops on wild plants for the last 5 years. She has recently completed a book on this topic due for release in November 2019. In this talk she will be sharing some of the most common weeds you will find in your garden and discussing how you can use them in everyday life. She will also be doing a live demonstration on how to make an anti-inflammatory gel from wild plants in your garden.

Heidi Merika BHSc.Nat

Heidi is an experienced naturopath and medical herbalist with a passion for wild medicinal and nutritional plants.

She regularly runs classes and workshops on wild crafting and herbal medicine.

She has lectured in nutrition and herbal medicine at RMIT University Melbourne, Endeavour College of Natural Health Brisbane and University of the Sunshine Coast Queensland.

She was involved in the menopause program at The Melbourne Women’s Hospital, was a guest speaker at the 2007 College of Lactation Consultants Victoria international conference and has participated in original research, with Mediherb one of Australia’s leading manufacture of herbal medicines, into the effects of herbal medicine on breast milk.

She is the author of the book Wildcraft. The science and spirit of wild plants as food and medicine. Due for release in November 2019.
