Heidi Merika, one of our special guest speakers at our September Club Night is launching her new book in December, and we are invited!

You are warmly invited to the launch of WILDCRAFT: The science & spirit of wild plants as food & medicine ✨

Date: 6th December
Time: 6pm
Location: Noosa Pengari Steiner School: 86 Nyell Rd, Doonan, QLD 4562
Cost: Free or by donation

Sunshine Coast Naturopath Heidi Merika Botanical has teamed up with photographer Karina Jean Sharpe to bring you a beautifully illustrated, comprehensive and practical guide to wild plants.

Have you ever pondered the weeds that seem to grow voraciously in your garden and wonder if they have a purpose? Many common backyard plants are bursting with nutrition and medicine, often far outweighing their cultivated friends. This book will inform, inspire and open your eyes into new ways of seeing.

Join us for an early evening of plant snacks by Botanical Chef Chay-Ya Clancy, and wondrous soothing music by sound healer and singer Jeunae Rogers.

Everyone is welcome, donations are appreciated.

Preorders of WILDCRAFT are welcome and can be collected from the launch, there will be extra books for sale on the night and an opportunity to have them signed by the author.

Heidi Merika is an experienced naturopath and medical herbalist with a passion for wild medicinal and nutritional plants. She regularly runs classes and workshops on wildcrafting and herbal medicine.
She has lectured in nutrition and herbal medicine at RMIT University, Melbourne, Endeavour College of Natural Health, Brisbane, and University of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
She lives in Queensland on the Sunshine Coast with her husband, two daughters and lots of herbs and animals.

Karina Sharpe is a photographer and concept artist who focuses on the creation of visual narratives to elevate products and ideas. She creates visual landscapes that are both cohesive and irresistible using a blend of art-direction, photography and precision craft. She creates from a desire to make the mind smile. Her artistic work is most strongly influenced by the natural world and botanical studies, which she is currently merging with modern styles and influences from other industries, such as fashion, science and still life editorial. The juxtaposition of human life and nature is also of particular interest to her, as are the concepts of reality, time and perception. To Karina, nothing much is ordinary.

Botanical Chef Chay-Ya Clancy will be working with Heidi to create some Wildcraft inspired plant snacks for the launch.
Chay-Ya has assisted Heidi’s workshops over the years and is deeply passionate about natural healing, wild plants and creating vibrant health. She trained with vegan culinary school Plantlab in Los Angeles and is based in the Mornington Peninsula.

Jeunae Rogers is a local singer/singwriter,/performance artist, sacred song catcher, mother and teacher. Her project VYN sings through songs caught while walking and sitting on the land she was born and raised on at Black Mountain. Her music has been described as somewhat otherworldly and ‘old’ with soul qualities that call us home to our hearts.

WILDCRAFT is available on Heidi’s website

To increase the environmental impact and offset carbon emissions from this book $1 from each book will go to https://treesisters.org/

I decided to make it a free event in keeping with the nature of foraging which is about accessing natures gifts for free and also so it was open and available to everyone. But as we are catering and creating a beautiful space any donations towards the evening would be greatly appreciated.
