Guest Speakers

Each month we aim to provide interesting guest speakers who present a wide variety of topics related to permaculture and ideas worth sharing. If you have heard an inspiring talk that you think would be enjoyed by our members, or you have a subject you would like us to cover, please send an email to [email protected] and share your ideas.

07 June 2022 Club Night

We had another great Club Night with a very good attendance.

Elisabeth Fekonia gave us an interesting talk about Taro, Taihitian Spinach and Cocoyam.

03 May 2022 Club Night

We had another great Club Night with a very good attendance.
Tom gave us a talk about the upcoming movie “2040 Regenerating Australia”.

05 April 2022 Club Night

Another fantastic night with great attendance numbers.

08 March 2022 Club Night

What a fantastic night with great attendance numbers.

01 February 2022 Club Night

Our first guest speaker was Brett Grimly who is the designer of our new pavilion.
Brett gave us a progress report and spoke about building cob walls inside the pavilion.

Our main speaker was Morag Gamble who is well know to many people in Permaculture circles.
She spoke about the direction and need for Permaculture principles to improve the world.

07 December 2021 Club Night

Our guest speaker was Tom Kendall who is well known in local Permaculture circles.
Tom is a permaculture farmer with over 40 years farming experience and a broad acre agriculture background.
He gave us an interesting talk about connectivity and design of farm systems.
During the talk he drew diagrams on a white board to illustrate how parts connected together.

02 November 2021 Club Night

Our guest speaker for the night was Luke Halling. Luke is an Entomologist with 20 years of experience in agricultural, forest and environmental pest surveillance, insect identification, training and advice on behalf of the Federal Government. Luke travelled extensively for this work across northern Australia and our External Territories, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Solomon Islands and East Timor. He has taught entomology in Laos, studied honeybee behaviour in Thailand and discovered new species of insects in Australia. He now resides on the Sunshine Coast.

17 October 2021 Our Club Day AGM

Our guest speaker and new President is Noosa Councillor Tom Wegener. Tom is working hard and has exciting ideas about an Agriculture Hub in the Noosa Hinterland. Tom is PASSIONATE about creating climate change resilience in the area and he knows growing food and food security are essential to that. His big idea includes large farms and landowners leasing a small parcel of land to young farmers who are not able to buy land in the area.

Rhonda Hetzel – If you have had the chance to read any of Rhonda’s beautifully written, inspiring books then I know that this talk will be one you won’t want to miss. Rhonda is a champion of simple living, self-reliance, growing food, slowing down, home cooking, recycling, mending and happiness. A retired journalist and technical writer best known for her award-winning blog, ‘Down to Earth‘, Rhonda lives with her husband, Hanno, on the Sunshine Coast. We can’t wait to hear her insights into designing your life, garden, and home to create a sustainable and resilient future.
